Broncos veteran safety Kareem Jackson will not be suspended by the NFL for his second illegal high hit in as many weeks, a league source confirmed Monday to The Post.Jackson, 35, was penalized and ejected in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Washington after he launched into a high hit on Washington tight end Logan Thomas on a fourth-down touchdown reception. The Broncos safety was also flagged for unnecessary roughness in Week 1 for a high hit on Las Vegas wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.Meyers and Thomas were each diagnosed with a concussion and Meyers did not play Week 2 for the Raiders. Jackson apologized for that hit after the Week 1 game and said, in part, ““Obviously we don’t play this game to hurt guys. It’s a tough sport we play. … Unfortunately stuff like that happens. Definitely sending my thoughts and prayers to him.”Related ArticlesDenver Broncos | Broncos signing edge Ronnie Perkins off New England’s practice sq...

Kiszla vs. Gabriel: Should the Broncos move on from Russell Wilson as their quarterback?

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:39:03 GMT

Kiz: If “Russ and Sean, a Bromance” was a TV show, network execs would’ve canned it after two weeks of the fall season. So let me start by saying I was wrong about how a veteran NFL coach with a Super Bowl ring could coax 10 victories out of Wilson and earn the Broncos a playoff berth. What startled me almost as much as Denver blowing an 18-point lead to Washington was how critical Payton was of Wilson after the loss. Is their football bromance on the rocks?Gabriel: Yeah, the postgame news conference was surprising in part because of how the game started. Hard to imagine that would have been the tone after Wilson started 5-of-6 for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the early going. But here we are. Payton’s comments are particularly noteworthy after he specifically went after Denver’s operation in and out of the huddle in July when he called Nathaniel Hackett’s 2022 “maybe the worst coaching job in the history of the NFL.” Well, it’s not solved yet. And Payton ...

He reportedly has a lacerated liver. People left scrambling as rural maternity facilities close

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:39:03 GMT

By Claire Rush and Laura Ungar | Associated PressAlisha Alderson placed her folded clothes and everything she needed for the last month of her pregnancy in various suitcases. She never imagined she would have to leave the comfort of her home in rural eastern Oregon just weeks before her due date. But following the abrupt closure in August of the only maternity ward within 40 miles, she decided to stay at her brother’s house near Boise, Idaho — a two-hour drive through a mountain pass — to be closer to a hospital.“We don’t feel safe being so far away from a birthing center,” said Alderson, noting her advanced maternal age of 45. “I was sitting in a hair salon a few days ago and some people started joking about me giving birth on the side of the road. And in that moment, I just pictured all the things that could go wrong with my baby and broke down in tears in front of strangers.”A growing number of rural hospitals have been shuttering their labor a...

Planned Parenthood resumes abortions in Wisconsin

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:39:03 GMT

By Harm Venhuizen | Associated Press/Report for AmericaMADISON, Wis. — Planned Parenthood resumed offering abortion services in Wisconsin on Monday after halting them for more than a year since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.Providers across the state stopped offering abortions following the June 2022 decision, fearing enforcement of an 1849 state law that appears to ban the procedure but had previously been nullified by the 1973 Roe ruling. A judge ruled last month that the 144-year-old law doesn’t apply to medical abortions. In light of the ruling, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin began offering abortions at clinics in Madison and Milwaukee again on Monday. The group did not say how many abortions it expected to perform but said appointments at its Milwaukee clinic on Monday were completely filled within 24 hours of announcing that services would resume.Without access to abortion care in Wisconsin for the past 15 months, many patients have sought assistance in n...

Happy hours, corporate swag and haircuts: Meta morale gets a boost after layoffs

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:39:03 GMT

By Aisha Counts | BloombergMeta Platforms Inc. employees are slowly starting to enjoy coming into the office more, bouncing back from a morale crisis that set in after 20,000 of their teammates were laid off over the past year. One reason: the company has revived a number of popular pre-pandemic perks, from branded T-shirts to happy hours.Workers have spent most of the year fearing for their jobs during rolling cuts. Productivity slowed because employees were unsure what to work on, or if they should be working at all. Employees that survived the layoffs were sad that their friends were no longer at the company, and that the perquisites — the little extras that made work fun — were reduced, multiple current and former workers said. Now, entire divisions of Meta, which owns Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, are ordering their branded T-shirts again, something that wouldn’t have been considered worth the expense in the past eight months, during Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg’...
