The fuselage of the jetliner involved in a collision on a Tokyo runway was made from carbon-composite fibers, and the incident is renewing concern about the challenges of putting out fires involving the material. The fire is shaping up as a key test of the safety of composite materials compared with conventional airplane fuselages made of aluminum.Investigators appear to be focusing immediately on communication between the pilots of both planes and air traffic controllers at Haneda Airport. A transcript released Wednesday indicated that the landing Japan Airlines A350 had permission to use the runway but the Japanese coast guard plane did not.Safety experts are praising the airline’s crew after everybody was able to escape the burning jetliner. Five people on the coast guard plane were killed.Composites have been used for many years on structures inside commercial planes, such as the floorboards. As other free agency dominos fall, Cody Bellinger return to Cubs becomes more likely

CHICAGO — During an offseason where many considered the Chicago Cubs to be prospective big spenders, the club has been relative quiet when it comes to their pocketbooks, leaving fans feeling as if they are sitting on pins and needles, waiting to see if Cody Bellinger returns to the North Side.According to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine, both sides of the Bellinger free agency equation are playing a game of chicken, waiting for the other side to budge first."Now that Bellinger is the top player on the market … [Scott] Boras being 'he,' he's the one waiting for this marketplace to develop," Levine said Tuesday on Marquee Sports Network. "Meanwhile, the Cubs are smart and waiting for the market not to develop. Therefore, it's January 2nd moving forward, and there's no movement yet."At the end of the day, the devil is in the details — specifically the contract length each side is seeking, plus the average annual value of the deal, according to Levine."Do you want to pay a six-year contrac...

Trump fights effort to kick him off state ballots

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - Former President Donald  Trump is fighting to stay on the ballot in Maine and Colorado, where legal efforts to kick him off are moving forward. Now the Supreme Court is expected to take up the issue and decide whether he is disqualified from becoming president again. Critics of Trump have been working to remove him from the ballot in several states. They argue his role in the January 6th Capitol riot falls under the insurrection clause of the constitution. Georgetown Law Constitutional Law Professor Dr. Michele Goodwin explains the clause was put in place after the Civil War to keep confederates from returning to office. "It prohibits individuals who've attempted to overthrow the government from being able to hold office," Goodwin said. Republicans are appealing a ruling from Colorado's Supreme Court to bar Trump from the ballot. This week Trump's legal team appealed a similar decision by Maine's Secretary of State. ...
